Growing your family can be additionally complex when there is already an older child in the home. When you're bringing your baby into the world, the last thing you should be worrying about is childcare. As a sibling doula, I'm trained in birth and comfortable talking about birth to children of all ages. You do not have to be having any particular type of birth (homebirth, C-section, or anything in between) to hire a sibling doula.
My sibling doula package is £500.
This covers 2x 2 hour "getting to know you" sessions, in which I observe your child/ren, how you parent, and get familiar with your home and your norms. These are absolutely vital in helping your child through your birth; they prevent your birth from being linked to a stranger coming to your home to take care of your child, a thing that can be bewildering and upsetting for children.
The package also covers my time on-call from 38-42 weeks, during which time I am alert and available to you when you need me. If your labour begins prior to, or after, this time, I will do my best to be there to support your child, but cannot guarantee. On the big day, the package covers up to 24 hours of continuous care, during which I will expect to sleep when your child sleeps. Further time will incur further costs, to be negotiated as required.
Following your birth, further sibling-focused doula care can be booked at a rate of £20 per hour, with a 2 hour minimum.
